Eminem Signs Yelawolf, Slaughterhouse To Shady Records

Eminem

Eminem has some new additions to the Shady Records team. The Detroit spitter has signed Alabama-born MC Yelawolf and rap supergroup Slaughterhouse to his Shady Records imprint, beginning the label’s second phase.

Em made the announcement to XXL, posing with his new signees on the magazine’s March cover. “Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse, it’s kinda phase two of Shady,” he explained. “It’s the new generation of Shady Records and as we’re trying to rebuild our label, it’s exciting for hip-hop and with all of these forces coming together and with what everybody’s capable of on the mic, it’s gonna be fun.”

Yela also shared his excitement in signing to the famed imprint. “Considering where I’m from and the shit I’ve been through, it’s hard to put into words what partnering with Shady means to me, my team at Ghet-O-Vision, and my state of Alabama,” he said. “I can tell you that when you’re willing to give your life up to see a dream through, the reward is great. And now that I’ve become an apprentice to one of the greatest artists in the world, my potential reaches beyond anything I ever imagined. Let’s kill this shit.”

The southern rapper previously told us that he was in awe the first time he met Slim Shady. “It was overwhelming at first,” he revealed. “I thought, ‘I’ll just be cool,’ but when I saw him it was different. This dude is like history. I felt the same when I met Big Boi and [André] 3000. These megastars and culturally-influential people, the first couple minutes you’re just in awe.”

And while he put out his Trunk Muzik 0-60 album late last year, he’s already hoping to lay down a track with his new boss. “We haven’t done any work together yet, but I got a lot of work to do, just payin’ my dues makin’ records and I think it will happen in the future,” stated Yela.
